One of the Great Joys of Real Estate is when you get and offer on your Listing.    I just received a nice offer on a beautiful fabulous home.  It is bitter sweet because I treat each listing like it was one of my children.  I try to do everything I can to have a successful outcome.  I spend hours on coming up with the right pictures and perfect words to dazzle the buyers  I show it with loving care.  I negotiate with both parties  until everyone is happy .  The Sellers feel like part of my family because I talk to them often and commnicate to them more them some of my own kids.  After the closing the constant chats dry up.  Then I get that “empty nest” feeling.    Hopefully,  the cycle will repeat itself, and a new baby will come along for me to take care of.

Helping Feels Good

Helping with Habitat for Humanity really brings home what communities can do when they work together for the common good.  The Eastern CT Association of Realtors banded together one day and pitched in to help a family realize the American Dream,  Home Ownership.  It is amazing to watch a house transform from a shelled out disaster to a beautiful, modern home.  They assigned everyone a simple job, mine was to help paint the exterior.   My friend Martha Paquette, a fabulous Realtor and Painter, convinced me to volunteer with her.  We had a great day with lots of laughs.  I look forward to pitching in again!

Broker Tours

Another Fun Day in Real Estate.   Thursdays are Broker Tour days.  It is when Different Real Estate Offices get together and schedule 4 or 5 homes in one town to be previewed by licensed Realtors.  The Road Race starts around 11:30 am at  the first home that usually serves an appetizer, the next two serve lunch, and the final one has dessert.  Dessert is my personal favorite.  It is a great opportunity for Realtors to see all the inventory and sellers get great comments from seasoned agents in the area.  It also is a great networking time to build good relationships with fellow agents.  It helps to get to know how other agents work and who is willing to work hard to keep deals together.   It is another win-win day!

The real estate profession is full of highs and lows.  We get to see people make & sell some of the biggest purchases in their lives.  There is always a lot of emotion involved.  Like today, I had an early walk through before a closing and I needed to buy pantyhose on the way.  Hoping to get there 10 minutes early to slip them on.  No such luck.  the other agent was there looking perfectly put together.  He was very understanding and smiled and gave me much needed privacy.  I was so embarrassed.  The buyer’s arrived excited and happy and I realized this is one of the good days in real estate.  The closing went well and I returned to my office excited to bring my office leader the checks and a closed file.

We were having a pizza party and guests from Prudential’s higher ups.  I soon learned the sad news that my wonderful office leader was stepping down to be a full time agent in another office.  Talk about highs & lows in one day.  I was so emotional.  I felt like I was losing a member of my family (one that I really liked).  But that is real estate, never a dull moment.  While I am sad she is leaving I  am pleased to know I have made a lifelong friend in the business.  I am looking forward to getting to know the new leader, Wendy, and learn something new from her.

Hi,

Well I finally did it.  I started a blog.  I kept saying I was going to do it but life is just too darn busy.  I want to say welcome to any one who visits me.  I am excited that my voice is going out to all in the world wide web!

I have been juggling work as a Realtor and raising 5 Children.  It has been a difficult year in real estate but, a fairly easy year in Motherhood.  When I started in real estate in 1999,  Motherhood was very difficult.  5 small needy children to keep an eye on.  Now, they are older and business has gotten a lot tougher. That figures!

I will try to keep up a positive attitude and not complain too much.  I have been pretty busy with new buyers who want to see everything.  That is OK,  I like to keep busy and they appreciate everything I do.  I wish my kids did.

Well I’m off to pick up my son from tennis practice.
